Synopsis

In the year 3015 of the Huanli era, the rival nations of Donatia and Kouran are locked in a struggle for dominance, leaving widespread devastation in their wake. The small island of Nil Kamui suffers greatly, as its territory is seized and controlled by both powers, stripping it from its rightful inhabitants. Compounding this tragedy, their guardian deity, the Red Dragon, has fallen into madness, ravaging Nil Kamui by destroying villages and slaughtering its people without mercy. Ibuki, a member of Nil Kamui’s royal bloodline, lives in an orphanage and refuses to claim the throne. He despises violence and longs for peace, but the escalating war around him makes such ideals impossible to uphold. Despite his reluctance, Ibuki finds himself increasingly drawn into the conflict. Will he rise to the challenge and save his homeland?

Background

Chaos Dragon is based on the role-playing fiction project Red Dragon, a story which was created by five notable character designers: Gen Urobuchi (Fate/Zero), Kinoko Nasu (Kara no Kyoukai), Iduki Kougyoku (Mimizuku to Yoru no Ou), Ryohgo Narita (Durarara!!), and Simadoriru (member of the Stripe Pattern doujin circle). The results of their tabletop role-playing game sessions over six days created material for a seven-volume light novel series.
