Hou Yi: The Lord Archer

Synopsis

During the reign of Emperor Yao, the Yellow River God forced a young woman into marriage, causing relentless floods. Various tribes rose in rebellion, tormenting the people and seeking to split Emperor Yao's domain. Ten suns appeared together in the sky, while demons brought great suffering and peril across the land. Hou Yi, a young archer blessed with a sacred bow by the Sun God, suppressed the rebellion, vanquished the demons, and shot down nine of the suns, changing the course of events and realizing his ambition to "bring peace to the world and happiness to all its people." He thus became a legendary hero remembered through the ages. Yet while Hou Yi was away on a military campaign, the treacherous Feng Meng stole the elixir of immortality from Hou Yi's home. In her panic, Chang'e swallowed the elixir, drifting up to the moon and gaining eternal life. Consequently, Hou Yi and Chang'e were separated forever, leaving behind a moving and magical tale.
