A society in which the livelihood protection system is abolished and people who cannot work are sent to the "experimental district" under the jurisdiction of the government. An "experimental district" is a place to create a special environment or system in an isolated area and explore how much humans can adapt to it. There are "self-sufficient economic districts" and "cybercommunity districts", but there are also districts such as "untreated plague districts" and "war districts" that are aimed at extremely inhumane experiments. Akito Kuze, who lost his parents in a sudden accident, decided to enter the 13th experimental district during his second year of high school. It was literally a "lawless district" with minimal public services and living expenses, but no police or other public institutions in the district. To prove it, people die from the first day of Kuze's entrance. Can Kuze survive? And what is the "truth" of the experimental district he sees ...?
