True Saint Banished Fantasy LN Locks 2027 TV Anime & Leads

Kodansha’s popular light-novel franchise Because I, the True Saint, Was Banished, That Country Is Done For! has unlocked a full television anime for 2027. The production committee went live with an official site and teaser visual on Thursday, confirming that the reverse-isakai-style romance will move from page to screen next year.

Masumi Tazawa voices the earnest true saint Eliane, while Taku Yashiro plays neighboring prince Nigel—the pair at the heart of Eliane’s soft reboot after a cold engagement dump and banishment. Directing duties fall to Tsukasa Sakurai at Tsumugi Akita Animation Lab, with series composition by Naoki Tozuka and character designs by Naru Nishikori.

Author Shikiso Utsuzawa launched the story on Shousetsuka ni Narou in 2020 before Kodansha’s K Ranobe Books imprint brought it to print with art by Pukyunosuke. The franchise has already crossed 1.5 million copies in circulation, and Mokuba Matsu’s manga adaptation continues on Palcy, with English releases rolling out through Kodansha USA and K Manga.

For fantasy fans who love a righteous “you fired the real saint” pay-off, the 2027 slate just got a little brighter—and a little more pointed.
