Hasegawa
Summary
Hasegawa is the proprietor of Cafe Creole and is married to Chiyomi. When the Shiki extermination campaign begins, he finds himself deeply reluctant to take part in the cleansing efforts within the pipelines. Witnessing villagers dragging the Shiki outside to be executed in the sunlight, he recognizes the extreme agony they endure during the process. In a moment of mercy, Hasegawa chooses to stab the creatures directly, allowing them to die quickly rather than suffering through the torment of exposure to the day.
