Summary

Hoopa Confined is a light-purple, vaguely humanoid Pokémon characterized by green eyes with yellow sclerae, a yellow ring marking on its forehead, and small pink dots beneath each eye. Dark pink hair is styled into a short ponytail, flanked by two slightly upward-curving dark gray horns. Its body features a dark pink V-shaped chest marking and golden spikes on each shoulder. Notably, its arms are detached and float beside its body, ending in mitten-like hands encircled by dark pink rings, while its legs are replaced by a wispy tail. Hoopa wears three gold rings: one around its waist and one hanging from each horn. Legend states that Hoopa’s true power was sealed in the Prison Bottle to prevent destruction, leaving it in this smaller form. Opening the bottle restores its original state for only three days. In the movie Hoopa and the Clash of Ages, a traveler named was revealed to be the one who performed the sealing. The Pokémon’s rings can open Hyperspace Holes, warping space to transport objects, humans, and Pokémon, including Legendaries. However, summoning too many Legendaries, as seen in Hoopa and the Clash of Ages, causes dangerous space-time distortions. These holes allow access to dimensions like the Distortion World, Hyperspace Lumiose, and parallel timelines, enabling Hoopa to cause mischief and steal items, which links it to strange events and mirage spots in Hoenn. It is also implied to bend dimensions. Hoopa has a particular fondness for hole-ringed foods, especially donuts. Consuming specific donuts, such as those from Ansha, grants a surge of power that allows it to influence humans and Pokémon in Hyperspace Lumiose, even enabling Pokémon to reach Level 200. Although Hoopa cannot Mega Evolve, eating a donut infused with Mega Evolution power awakens some of its original strength, allowing feats comparable to Mega Evolved Pokémon. Its lair is rumored to be hidden within a desert oasis, filled with mountains of gold and silver stolen from ancient kings and wealthy barons. No one has ever found this secret location. Hoopa is vengeful toward those who manipulate it; one tale recounts it punishing an organization by transporting their belongings and moving their headquarters to the desert, causing the group to disband out of fear. Hoopa possesses two forms: Hoopa Confined and Hoopa Unbound. Hoopa Unbound is a large, bipedal Pokémon with six arms, mostly light blue with purple hair. Its hair forms a bushier ponytail held by two golden rings, covers its chin in a pointed beard, and extends down its neck. The horns are less curved with spiky purple hair at their bases, each holding three gold rings. It has yellow eyes with white sclerae, a pointed dark gray nose, a hole in its forehead ring, and prominent fangs. Its six detached arms feature large dark gray spikes, three-fingered claws, and gold rings at the wrist and base. Purple hair tufts surround its torso, which has a central hole leading to another dimension. A large gold ring encircles its waist, and its legs feature widening purple stripes and gold ankle rings. Its feet are gold and curled like shoes, and it has a tail with a purple stripe and an arrow-shaped tip. This form is tied with Mega as the tallest Dark type. Hoopa Unbound is its true form, possessing humongous power. In this state, Hoopa can enlarge its six rings to miles in length, transporting entire islands. It can bend dimensions on a massive scale and, as shown in Hoopa and the Clash of Ages, use its rage to drive Legendary Pokémon berserk. A legend claims it teleported an entire castle from Kalos 3,000 years ago to steal hidden treasure. Hoopa can remain in this form for only three days before its power seals back into the Prison Bottle, reverting it to Hoopa Confined.
