Summary
Kouzou Etou is a piano instructor widely recognized by the nickname "Harisen teacher," a moniker derived from his habit of carrying a harisen, or paper fan, which he uses to discipline students who make errors during lessons. Initially, he served as Chiaki's instructor at the beginning of the narrative but was subsequently abandoned by his pupil. His teaching focus shifted after he heard one of Nodame's performances and resolved to take her on as a student, despite her initial refusal. To persuade Nodame to accept his lessons, he ultimately relinquished his harisen.
