Summary
Hattori Heizou serves as the highest-ranking officer at the Osaka Prefectural Police Headquarters and is the father of high school detective Hattori Heiji. Despite projecting a stern and cold exterior, he is deeply caring toward his son, family, and friends. Within the Osaka district, he maintains close professional relationships with Ootaki Gorou and Tooyama Ginshirou, the latter of whom facilitated the initial meeting between Heiji and Tooyama’s daughter, Kazuha. Heiji’s father often appears aloof, a demeanor highlighted when he punched his son in front of others, sending Heiji to the ground. However, this aggression was a calculated move to encourage Heiji to be more proactive in solving a case and to use both Heiji and Conan as bait, for which Heizou later apologized. He supports his son’s detective endeavors while simultaneously worrying about his well-being. Possessing a sharp intellect and keen observation skills, his deductive abilities are considered on par with Kudou Yuusaku. He demonstrated this by solving a murder case involving Toyotomi’s castle and, during a flashback, cracked a case solely by listening to phone details and providing hints to Heiji.
