Summary
Ritsu Iijima serves as the protagonist of Hyakkiyakou Shou/Selected Pandemonium. He possesses the rare ability to see the supernatural, a gift passed down from his grandfather, the novelist Iijima Ryou, who wrote under the pen name Iijima Kagyuu. Ryou documented his own encounters with the paranormal, and his legacy remains central to Ritsu’s life. As a young child, Ritsu was dressed in female clothing to ward off evil spirits, a tradition requested by his grandfather. Although Iijima Ryou passed away when Ritsu was still very young, he left behind Blue Storm, a guardian spirit bound to protect his grandson. By the start of the series, Ritsu is in high school. Alongside Blue Storm and his cousin Tsukasa, he navigates a world filled with both benevolent and hostile spirits, investigates supernatural objects, and handles various real-world issues that arise from these extraordinary circumstances.
