Hoshika
Kagura

Summary

Kagura, whose name translates to the music of the gods, is a wind sorceress forged from the very essence of Naraku’s body. Despite being a construct, she possesses her own consciousness and fights fiercely for her freedom. She first appears employing the Shikabane Mai, or Dance of the Dead, to lure out and slaughter Koga’s companions. She then covers Inuyasha in their blood to provoke Koga into arriving to avenge them. Unaware that he holds a fake Shikon no Tama shard, Koga severely wounds Inuyasha before being immobilized by Kagura’s deception. Believing the battle is won, Kagura moves to claim the real Shikon no Tama shards and Koga’s life. Inuyasha interrupts this plan, engaging Kagura in combat. On the verge of death, he manages to disrupt her winds and unleashes a Kaze no Kizu. Shocked, Kagura flees, briefly revealing a spider-shaped burn scar on her back that mirrors Naraku’s. Realizing Naraku has been manipulating her, she attempts to attack him, only to be stopped when he crushes her heart to demonstrate that he holds her life in his hands. From that moment on, Kagura dedicates herself to killing Naraku, often by using others as pawns.
