Summary
Juunosuke Niwa is a former sensei of Jin, marking the first instance where the character references a teacher other than Enshiro. He previously operated a dojo in Mihara. His existence is first brought to light by Jiin, who decides to visit his old friend after leaving Mugen and Fuu to check on some graffiti. Upon arrival, Jiin discovers the dojo abandoned and defaced with graffiti. He then visits the family burial plot, where Oshou reveals that Juunosuke’s immense popularity among students made him a target of envy among other masters. Consequently, the daimyo forced him to choose between removing his dojo’s sign or having his arm cut off.
