Tsuchimikado, Yakou
Summary
Tsuchimikado Yakou was a visionary genius onmyoji who emerged during the Great Pacific War, earning the title of the father of modern Onmyoudo. By establishing a new foundation for the practice, he revitalized Onmyoudo in Japan, gaining immense fame and a large following. As a pivotal figure in the Japanese Imperial Army and the leader of the Onmyo Agency, his strategic leadership secured numerous victories for the military and the nation. However, Yakou was also responsible for the Great Spiritual Disaster, an event that precipitated the country’s immediate collapse during the war. Although his reputation was marred by the controversy following this catastrophe, his legacy remains deeply revered. Little is known about his fate after these events, leading to widespread speculation that his grand ritual did not fail and that he has reincarnated. These rumors are bolstered by divinations predicting his return half a century later as the new head of the Tsuchimikado household, where he would once again guide the Onmyouji into a new era. Devoted followers often refer to Yakou as the King of North Star or Polaris King.
