Summary

Yachiru Kusajishi, born on February 12th in Area 79 North of the Kusajishi district, serves as the Vice-Captain of the 11th Division. Standing at a mere 109 cm, she holds the distinction of being the shortest member of the Gotei 13 and has assumed her rank without ever taking the standard shinigami examinations. Her official duties include presiding over the shinigami’s Womans Society. While her combat prowess remains largely unexplored, her authority is undeniable, as evidenced by her fierce protective nature. Her origins are deeply tied to Kenpachi. As an infant, she encountered him shortly after he had slaughtered a group of people. She felt an immediate, inexplicable draw to him, later explaining that his blood seemed to wash away the dark, hopeless, and unforgiving nature of her world. Crawling toward him without fear of his sword or the surrounding gore, she inspired Kenpachi to name himself. He also named her Yachiru, after the only person he ever admired. Since that day, she has accompanied Kenpachi everywhere, typically riding on his shoulder. Personality-wise, Yachiru is fond of sweets, particularly Konpeitou, and enjoys giving people funny nicknames. She is known to tease Ikkaku by mocking his bald head and occasionally bothers Kuchiki Byakuya. Despite her cheerful, child-like demeanor, she possesses a terrible sense of direction, often leading Kenpachi or others into dead ends. However, her lieutenant position is earned; she displayed incredible power and rage when a messenger interrupted her while watching Kenpachi fight Ichigo. Yachiru considers Ichigo, whom she calls "Ichi," to be a good friend because he allowed Kenpachi to enjoy their battle. Her zanpakuto has never been drawn or named because Kenpachi attacks anyone who threatens her. She drags her sword behind her rather than carrying it, and its hilt is shaped like a flower with wheels at the bottom.
