Maurice
Summary
Maurice is an orphan taken in by Eureka after she discovered him amidst a pile of corpses during the Ciudades del Cielo massacre. He displays a maturity beyond his years, being the only character to suspect that adults deliberately distort the truth to keep children calm. He is also highly attuned to Eureka’s emotional state. Although Maurice is aware of the circumstances surrounding his former mother, he holds no resentment toward Eureka, instead fully accepting her role, sometimes to an extreme degree. Despite occasionally recognizing Renton’s accomplishments, Maurice remains the character who least accepts him throughout the series.
