Summary
Leading the karate club at Jindai High School, Tsubaki is a master of the martial art, though his severe nearsightedness causes frequent comedic mishaps whenever he is without his glasses. His immense pride prevents him from accepting his defeat at the hands of Sousuke, leading him to constantly issue rematch challenges that Sousuke typically evades, whether intentionally or not. Tsubaki harbors a deep crush on Kaname, but during a confession in the short story Irrelevant Emotion, he mistakenly addresses Sousuke, sparking rumors among the cast that he and Sousuke are a gay couple. In the Fumoffu! anime, Mizuki develops feelings for him in the final episode, whereas in Irrelevant Emotion, she falls for him after he barely saves her from falling out of a window. His character shares traits with Ryoga from Ranma ½ due to his relentless drive to defeat his rival, and with Mousse from the same series because of his role as a nearsighted competitor.
