Gyokuyou
Summary
Lady Gyokuyo serves as the Genkun of the fifty nyosen who dwell on Mount Hou, acting as the intermediary between the Twelve Kingdoms and the Heavens. Although she resides on the mountain, she does not always remain there to witness local events, such as the emergence of Taiki’s ranka from the shashinboku. While she seldom interferes in affairs within the Twelve Kingdoms, Gyokuyo arranged for Keiki to learn empathy and taught Taiki about the nature of being a kirin. She also confirmed that the united effort of the kingdoms to locate the vanished Taiki would not violate any heavenly laws. Revered as a goddess by mortals for her benevolence, her name is popular for girls and is often synonymous with beauty.
