Summary
Kozue Matsumoto is a student at the same school as Baki and the daughter of his landlady. Her father was a fighter who met his end in the Underground arena. She harbors deep affection for Baki but vehemently denies it when confronted. Kozue is troubled by Baki’s violent existence as an Underground fighter and repeatedly pleads with him to abandon that lifestyle. Her perspective begins to shift after she visits Emi’s grave, granting her a better understanding of Baki’s unwavering resolve, even though she still disapproves of his path. Following Baki’s first tournament bout, he admits to Kozue that he has feelings for her.
