Alvida makes her debut in the first episode of One Piece as a pirate captain characterized by her large physique and a face covered in freckles. She enslaves Coby, a boy with pink hair, after capturing him. Alvida is defined by her obsession with her own appearance, frequently asking crew members who the most beautiful woman in the world is and demanding they reply with her name. Following her defeat at the hands of Luffy, she consumes the Sube Sube fruit, a Devil Fruit that grants the ability to make incoming attacks slip off her body. This transformation also causes her freckles to vanish and alters her figure, leading to her reappearance in the 46th episode as a strikingly attractive woman. Afterward, Alvida joins forces with Buggy to seek revenge on their mutual enemy. She remains aboard Buggy's ship and briefly takes command of his crew during the period when Buggy is imprisoned by the Marines.
