Hoshika
Mustang, Roy

Summary

Known as the Flame Alchemist, Roy Mustang possesses absolute control over heat and fire through alchemy. By utilizing special gloves that generate sparks upon snapping his fingers, he can produce flames ranging from a small ember to a raging inferno capable of destroying a humanoid body in seconds. His command over alchemically enhanced fire is so precise that he can boil the water in a person's eyes and strike enemies amidst a riot without harming allies. Outwardly arrogant and playfully manipulative, Mustang is intelligent and typically stays one step ahead of his opponents, preferring to maintain control of every situation. As a superior to Edward Elric, he initially appears to be a military officer obsessed with promotions and praise, often seen as a ladies' man who dates different women. However, his true objective is to become Führer to gain the authority to reform the government, thereby absolving his sins from the Ishval War and improving the nation. This ambition includes the humorous mandate that female officers wear miniskirts, a policy that significantly increased Havoc's loyalty to him while causing Hawkeye to be angry with him. His noble goals earn the fierce loyalty of close friends like Lt Col. Maes Hughes and Major Alex Louis Armstrong, as well as his subordinates: Riza Hawkeye, Jean Havoc, Heymans Breda, Vato Falman, and Kain Fuery. While Mustang maintains a friendly relationship with all his team, he shares a deeper bond of affection with his second-in-command, Riza Hawkeye, who has devoted her life to supporting him. This connection reaches its peak in the final episodes of the anime, where Mustang chooses Hawkeye alone to accompany him on his most dangerous mission. Despite being a hero of the Ishval War, he remains haunted by the horrors of conflict and suffers deep remorse for the lives he took.
