Akagi, also known by his birth name Cyrus, serves as the leader of Team Galactic. He first appears alongside Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn in the episodes "Losing Its Lustrous!" and "Double Team Turnover!" While publicly recognized as a wealthy businessman responsible for constructing many of Sinnoh’s buildings and libraries, his true identity as the Team Galactic commander remains hidden from Ash and his friends. Utilizing this cover, Akagi visits the Celestic Town Historical Research Center while his subordinates execute a plan to steal the Lustrous Orb, following the prior theft of the Adamant Orb from an Eterna City police escort. During his visit, he learns from Ash and Dawn that they have encountered the legendary Pokémon Azelf and Mesprit at Lake Verity and Lake Valor, an information that seems to pique his interest. He reappears in "Saving the World From Ruins!" at Team Galactic’s headquarters with Jupiter, Saturn, and Charon. The group monitors Mars’s mission on Iron Island via energy readings from the Spear Pillar using a beam launched by the Spear Key, but the operation fails when Mars’s equipment is destroyed at 60% completion. Undeterred by this setback, Cyrus later assumes control of Dialga and Palkia using the Red Chain. In "Unlocking the Red Chain of Events!", he hires J to capture Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf. The series concludes in "The Battle Finale of Legend!" with Cyrus controlling the two legendary Pokémon and stepping into a portal they create. When the portal is destroyed, his ultimate fate remains unknown.
