Summary
Ayumu Nishizawa is a sixteen-year-old girl who attended Hayate’s former school before he became a butler. Standing at 162 cm tall and weighing 47 kg, she has blood type A and celebrates her birthday on May 15. Ayumu harbors romantic feelings for Hayate and is delighted when he visits her old school. She is fiercely protective of their reputation, violently lashing out at anyone who speaks ill of her or Hayate, including a teacher who insulted Hayate as a dropout due to his parents refunding all school fees the day he was sold. After confessing her feelings, Hayate rejects her following a vision of Nagi. Undeterred, Ayumu attempts to speak with Hayate a week later but encounters Nagi instead. She is shocked to realize that, metaphorically speaking, Nagi is a dragon while she is merely a hamster. Retreating in defeat, she vows to return with a stronger hamster next time. She later challenges Nagi to a karaoke contest but loses. In the anime, Ayumu appears in every episode, often for less than thirty seconds, engaging in activities unrelated to the main plot but always involving food. She holds the distinction of being the only girl to successfully confess her love to Hayate, a feat that frequently leaves her alone with him, usually while eating. Ayumu and Hinagiku once made a bet: Ayumu would try to make Hayate her boyfriend, while Hinagiku would attempt to get Hayate to confess his love for her, with both promising to support each other. By season 3, Ayumu resides in Nagi’s boarding house as one of the tenants.
