Shinrei

Summary

As a former member of the Goyousei, Shinrei demonstrated unwavering loyalty to the Mibu Clan, harboring intense hatred for Kyo due to his betrayal of the clan’s domination plans. He also held a deep dislike for Hotaru (Keikoku), viewing his provocative behavior and lack of allegiance as unacceptable. As the eldest son of a noble Mibu patriarch and his official wife, Shinrei was the rightful heir to his branch, raised with an absolute dedication to the clan. Although generally cold and serious, he could lose his temper when provoked, particularly by his rival and half-brother, Hotaru. Shinrei learned of his connection to Hotaru during his youth and subsequently watched over his younger brother from the shadows. He intervened to stop their father from ordering Hotaru’s assassination and secretly facilitated Hotaru’s participation in the Goyousei competition, which was restricted to noble Mibu descendants. He concealed his identity as Hotaru’s brother until their final confrontation with Kyo. Despite their frequent conflicts, the two shared a strong sibling bond that evolved into a partnership after their last battle, leading them to fight together. Shinrei employed a "dancing sword technique" that resembled a dance, a dangerous style that nearly overwhelmed Kyo. His prowess grew alongside his opponent’s skill, relying on a paradoxical method where he redirected his attack with near-impossible speed during the opponent’s counter-movement, causing them to strike themselves. This technique was eventually neutralized when Kyo closed his eyes and sensed the blade. Personally trained by Fubuki, Shinrei controlled the Water element through the Mumyou Saikyou Ryuu School of Water, founded by his father. After Kyo defeated his sword technique and wounded him, Shinrei forged a sword from his own blood, unleashing his ultimate technique, the Mumyou Saikyou Ryuu, the Seven Water Split Dragon. In moments of extreme stress, his left eye turned red, contrasting with his brother’s reaction. Ultimately, Shinrei emerged as the leader of the Mibu Clan, rebuilding it alongside Yuan’s family and forest creatures. A bonus chapter revealed he later performed with his water dragons at the reconstructed Water Dance Stage.
