Summary
Fuji is a giant who is viewed as a freak by those around him. After being attacked and nearly killed, he was discovered and taken in by an old man named Saizuchi. Seeing Fuji’s gentle and depressed state, Saizuchi manipulated his emotions to mold him into an extraordinary fighter, constantly reminding him that he owed Saizuchi for saving his life to maintain control. Fuji was easily defeated by Hiko Seijūrō, who spared his life and unlocked his true martial artist's soul, becoming the first person to see Fuji as more than a monster. Later, the Meiji government assigned him to northern Hokkaidō, where he was tasked with developing land and serving as a defending fighter during wartime.
