Genda, Ryuusuke

Summary

Ryusuke Genda serves as the forty-three-year-old captain of the Library Task Force, holding the rank of Library Supervisor Third Class. He played a pivotal role in drafting Kasahara into the unit, leveraging his authority as captain to make the final decision. A formidable figure whose physical strength is said to be sufficient to take on a bear head-on, Genda excels in military command and political maneuvering. During operations, he ensures that Media Betterment Act agents leave with books and magazines from the Library Defense Force’s inventory so they do not return empty-handed. Despite his intimidating appearance, Genda maintains an easy-going demeanor and shares a close bond with his subordinates, often teasing them without hesitation. He can be impulsive, notably purchasing a new building to serve as a future library solely so the task force could raid the premises and rescue Kasahara and Inamine after they were taken hostage. Additionally, it is hinted that he harbors romantic feelings for Orikuchi Maki, a college friend who works as a journalist for Weekly New World. When that publication faced a ban, Genda vowed to protect it with his life because it belonged to her.
