WIT Studio Drops 'Romance Dawn' Artwork for The One Piece Netflix Remake

WIT Studio stepped into the spotlight at the Annecy International Animation Festival this week. During Netflix's Anime Studio Focus panel, the official account for the project released the first episode artwork, titled "Romance Dawn," capturing Monkey D. Luffy's earliest steps toward his legendary voyage with a bright, energetic new aesthetic that already has fans buzzing.

The studio behind Attack on Titan and Spy × Family is steering the remake with a clear vision for tighter pacing and elevated production values. Director Masashi Koizuka leads the effort, joined by character designers and chief animation directors Kyoji Asano and Takatoshi Honda, plus a crew of veterans from high-profile titles. The team has stressed a commitment to honoring the original Toei Animation run while delivering the kind of cinematic quality WIT is known for on the global stage.

Season one will arrive as seven episodes in one drop, spanning roughly 300 minutes and adapting the manga's first 50 chapters through the early Baratie arc. The project is set to premiere exclusively on Netflix worldwide in February 2027.

A world-premiere teaser trailer is scheduled to follow the panel soon, giving more insight into how one of anime's most respected studios is reimagining the start of the greatest pirate adventure ever told.
