Donguri Republic Launches First U.S. Studio Ghibli Pop-Up Store

Fans in the Los Angeles area are about to get their first dedicated retail home for authentic Studio Ghibli merchandise. Donguri Republic, the official store chain in Japan, is opening a limited-time pop-up at Del Amo Fashion Center in Torrance, California, running from June 23 through December 31, 2026.

The shop will stock more than 400 exclusive and officially licensed items drawn from across the studio’s catalog, including classics like My Neighbor Totoro, Spirited Away, Howl’s Moving Castle, and The Boy and the Heron. The space is designed to capture Ghibli’s signature warmth, with wood-inspired interiors, whimsical displays, and a standout life-size Totoro waiting at a bus stop for the Catbus.

Grand opening celebrations include a limited-edition Donguri Republic Los Angeles tote bag for purchases of $100 or more. Fans attending Studio Ghibli Fest 2026 theatrical screenings can also score exclusive movie film-style bookmarks with qualifying buys. The pop-up will operate daily with extended evening hours on weekdays.

This marks a major milestone for American collectors who have long relied on imports, secondary markets, or occasional conventions for genuine Ghibli goods. For six months, one of the most beloved corners of otaku culture gets a proper home on U.S. soil.
