A young boy named Marco lives in Genoa, Italy with his father Pietro, but their family feels incomplete because Marco's mother departed for Argentina nearly a year earlier in search of employment. Her letters arrive consistently until one day they abruptly cease. Anxiety for his mother's welfare and what might have befallen her overwhelms Marco, so he resolves to travel to Argentina, hoping to reunite with her. Initially, Pietro resists the idea, but his son's passionate determination eventually convinces him to allow the journey. Thus begins Marco's profound emotional voyage. Throughout his travels, Marco meets a variety of people and, through these encounters, discovers maturity and self-acceptance.

This is the first installment of Tadao Nagahama's Romance Super Robot Trilogy. (The second is Chou Denji Machine Voltes V, and the third is Toushou Daimos.) Millennia ago, the inhabitants of planet Campbell abandoned their world to search for new planets to settle. One faction, headed by the scientist Oreana, reached Earth but was delayed in carrying out their mission. By the early 21st century, Oreana's group awakens again and starts their campaign to take over Earth. The only force capable of opposing the Campbellians' enormous biomechanical slave beasts is the super-electromagnetic robot Combattler V together with its pilots.

Earth remains under threat: aliens from the planet Zeraz seek to invade because their own world is being consumed by a black hole. Under the command of Great Darius and his four generals, they unleash destruction and chaos. After an ESP warrior is killed by the aliens, Professor Hi-Tech recognizes the danger and constructs the massive Space Dragon (Daiku Maryuu), piloted by Pete, and the giant robot Gaiking, operated by former baseball player Sanshiro Shiwobuki. Daiku Maryuu is a large dragon-shaped spaceship whose head serves as Gaiking's torso. When Gaiking enters battle, Daiku Maryuu launches the robot's other parts and then reconnects its neck with its tail, becoming indestructible. The narrative follows the conflict between the crew of the semi-transformable carrier Daikuu Maryuu and the Super Mecha Gaiking against an invading alien race from the planet Zela, whose homeworld is being destroyed by a black hole. Gaiking is piloted by baseball star Sanshiro Tsuwabuki (renamed Aries Astonopolis in the English version, with the carrier called "Great Space Dragon," a direct translation of "Daikuu Maryuu"). Gaiking is notable as one of the few super robot series set in real locations outside Japan and as the first super robot series to feature a mobile carrier for its primary robots.

The world-renowned tale of Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi is reimagined in this enchanting story filled with love and deception. Old carpenter Jeppet feels terribly lonely and longs for a son of his own. One day, while carving a puppet from wood, it begins to speak before he has even finished shaping it. The old man names the puppet Pinocchio and treats him like the son he never had. Pinocchio and his friend Gina the duck are sold to the master of a puppet show, with little hope of being reunited with kind old Jeppet. The naughty puppet later escapes to search for his surrogate father, plunging into one adventure after another as he matches wits with the crafty Dino and Witch. His attempts to avoid trouble never succeed, and misfortune constantly finds our wooden hero. If Pinocchio can only manage to stay out of mischief, his greatest wish will be granted and his dream will come true. Delighting and captivating audiences, The Adventures of Pinocchio demonstrates that a pure heart and good intentions are rewarded, and that true love can indeed create miracles.

The series presents Japanese folktales, with each episode consisting of two stories. Its aim was to highlight folktales from various prefectures around Japan. The initial broadcast only ran for 18 episodes (36 stories) before being discontinued; the show was later rebroadcast, and the remaining 8 episodes (16 stories) were aired. The anime was family-friendly and sponsored by the Seibu Department Store chain, which attached a "Seibu Family Gekijou" subtitle to each episode—likely in an effort to mirror the highly successful "Calpis Family Gekijou" adoring the World Masterpiece Theater anime program.
