Synopsis
After a string of impressive wins with his AE86, Takumi Fujiwara has established himself as a rising star in street racing. However, his newfound confidence, earned on his home turf of Mount Akina, is threatened by a new team called Emperor. This team exclusively uses the Mitsubishi four-wheel drive Lancer Evolution, or Lan Evo—a car favored by most professional racers. Emperor's leader, Kyouichi Sudou, looks down on Takumi, viewing him as an inferior driver for piloting an outdated car that lacks the qualities of a modern race machine. Kyouichi's elitist mindset is also why his team consists solely of Lan Evo drivers. Can Takumi maintain his perfect record against the highly skilled and mechanically superior Emperor team, or will his winning streak come to an end?
