Synopsis
It is the closing years of the Edo period, an era of prosperity where stylish townspeople, samurai, and traditional farmers coexist peacefully. Yet a closer look at daily life reveals a parallel universe where modern amenities—cell phones, personal computers, microwaves, motorcycles, subways, and more—are commonplace. Inside a nightclub, young people dance to thundering trance music. Still, they wear kimonos, the darkness is lit by candles, and the stage is covered in tatami mats! Though the inhabitants reflect the fashions and customs of the Edo Era, they dwell in a strange realm where the "present" and the "past" exist side by side.
