Justice and its enforcement have evolved. In the 22nd century, Japan operates under the Sibyl System, an objective method to assess each citizen's threat level by analyzing their mental state for criminal intent, known as their Psycho-Pass. Inspectors enforce the law by subduing—often lethally—anyone showing the slightest ill will; alongside them work Enforcers, citizens who have become latent criminals, given limited freedom in return for carrying out the Inspectors' grim tasks. Into this world enters Akane Tsunemori, a young woman with a sincere wish to uphold justice. But as she collaborates with veteran Enforcer Shinya Kougami, she soon discovers that the Sibyl System's verdicts are not as flawless as her fellow Inspectors believe. With everything she once trusted turned upside down, Akane struggles with the nature of true justice and whether it can be achieved through a system that might already be flawed.

Deep within the earth lies a vast chasm known as the Abyss, teeming with strange creatures and ancient relics from ages long gone. Its origins and what exists at its deepest point remain unsolved mysteries that countless explorers, called Divers, have risked their lives to uncover by descending into its darkest reaches. The most skilled and courageous Divers—the White Whistles—are celebrated as legends among those who stay above. Riko, the daughter of the missing White Whistle Lyza the Annihilator, dreams of following in her mother's footsteps and exploring the Abyss's farthest depths. However, she is only a novice Red Whistle, permitted to venture no further than the uppermost layer. One day, she stumbles upon a mysterious robot who looks like an ordinary boy. She names him Reg, and he has no memory of what happened before his discovery. Convinced that the technology behind Reg must originate from deep within the Abyss, the two decide to journey into the chasm—Reg to recover his lost memories, and Riko to see the bottom of the great pit with her own eyes. Yet they remain unaware of the cruel truths awaiting them in the Abyss's true reality.

Most people dismiss the existence of aliens, time travelers, and espers, and ordinary high schooler Kyon is no different. His mundane perspective is shattered on the first day of school when he encounters Haruhi Suzumiya, a girl determined to overturn his reality. During class introductions, Haruhi loudly declares her disdain for mundane individuals and her desire to encounter the supernatural. Upon discovering that the school lacks a club dedicated to paranormal phenomena, she impulsively forms the Spreading Fun all Over the World with Haruhi Suzumiya Brigade, commonly referred to as the SOS Brigade. Drawn into her chaotic world, Kyon joins the SOS Brigade on various adventures that gradually reveal the true nature of their enigmatic leader.

In 2021, a parasitic virus called "Gastrea" infects people and transforms them into monsters. The remnants of humanity now dwell within walls made of Varanium, the sole substance capable of harming Gastrea. To combat the Gastrea threat, "Cursed Children"—young girls whose bodies carry traces of the virus, granting them superhuman abilities—are officially designated Initiators by the Tendo Civil Security. They are paired with Promoters, individuals who guide and protect them. These two-person teams are dispatched on missions to fight the monsters spawned by the Gastrea virus and hold them back. Black Bullet centers on the duo of Enju Aihara, an Initiator, and Satomi Rentaro, a Promoter, as they undertake missions to confront the escalating Gastrea menace in their home city of Tokyo.

Fourteen-year-old Lain Iwakura, a shy and socially awkward student, receives a peculiar email from Chisa Yomoda, a classmate who has recently taken her own life. As the line between physical reality and cyberspace grows increasingly indistinct, Lain is drawn into increasingly surreal situations that challenge traditional notions of identity, consciousness, and perception. Konaka, the creator of Texhnolyze, Serial Experiments Lain is a psychological, avant-garde mystery that tracks Lain’s pivotal decisions, which resonate across both the tangible world and the Wired. Around the year 2011, a small portion of humanity began awakening psychokinetic abilities known as Cantus. Over a thousand years later, in the village of Kamisu 66, Saki Watanabe is the last among her friends to manifest her powers and enroll at the Sage Academy, a school for psychics. Although all students there possess Cantus, they are not treated equally; soon after Saki starts, a classmate considered weaker than the rest suddenly disappears. These mole-like beings worship those who wield Cantus as gods. When Saki uses her ability to help one of them out of a predicament, she is met with profound gratitude. Now questioning the Monster Rats' place in society, Saki and her companions discover another disappearance. As time passes, they gradually seek answers to the mysteries surrounding them and begin to realize that this seemingly perfect new world conceals humanity's dark history.

Within the sealed city of Romdo exists one of the final remnants of human civilization on Earth. Millennia ago, a worldwide ecological disaster devastated the planet, making life outside these domed enclosures nearly unfeasible. To aid humanity's recovery, humanoid robots known as "AutoReivs" were developed to assist with daily tasks. Yet, these machines have started to suffer from a strange affliction called the "Cogito Virus," which bestows them with self-awareness. Re-l Mayer, the granddaughter of Romdo's ruler, is tasked with probing this occurrence alongside her AutoReiv partner, Iggy. However, what starts as a standard inquiry quickly descends into a web of intrigue as Re-l confronts humanity's most profound transgressions. In another part of Romdo, an AutoReiv expert named Vincent Law must confront his own inner turmoil as bizarre incidents unfold around him. Re-l, Iggy, Vincent, and the young AutoReiv named Pino will form an unlikely alliance as they strive to unravel Romdo's secrets and ascertain the genuine function of the legendary entities known as "Proxies."

By the year 2029, Niihama City has transformed into a highly advanced technological hub. Thanks to major breakthroughs in cybernetics, residents can now replace their limbs with mechanical prosthetics. Global connectivity has reached unprecedented levels, and tasked with handling corruption, terrorism, and other perilous threats born from this wave of globalization is the city's Public Security Section 9. Much like many inhabitants of this futuristic era, the Puppet Master's body is virtually entirely robotic, granting them immense abilities. As Motoko and her team pursue the elusive criminal's path, additional factions—including Section 6—begin to interfere, compelling her to face the case's extreme complexity. While reflecting on deep philosophical issues, such as the purpose of her own existence, Motoko comes to understand that the very one capable of offering these answers is the Puppet Master themselves.

A year and a half after the events of the original sci-fi psychological thriller, Akane Tsunemori continues her work as an inspector—carrying out the Sibyl System's rulings. She is joined by new enforcers and junior inspector Mika Shimotsuki, a young woman fiercely and unbendingly loyal to Sibyl. As Akane reflects on both the essence of her role and the justness of Sibyl's decisions, a new and unsettling threat emerges. A shadowy figure has uncovered a method to manipulate the Crime Coefficient—a value derived from mental scans that enables Sibyl to evaluate psychological well-being and flag potential criminals. Using this technique, he murders an enforcer, leaving behind an enigmatic clue: the letters "WC?" daubed in blood on a wall. Akane and the rest of Division 01 soon find themselves caught in a deadly struggle against this new antagonist, confronting a conspiracy that challenges not only the Sibyl System's authority but also the very core of Akane's own principles.

Yet, the ability to access the deepest recesses of the mind carries immense weight. In malicious hands, the DC Mini could become a tool for psychological terrorism, inducing mental collapse in its victims. When the device is stolen and individuals around them begin exhibiting bizarre behavior, Atsuko and Kosaku realize they face a grave crisis. With the assistance of Officer Konakawa, who has undergone this experimental therapy, they hunt for the perpetrator across both the waking world and the realm of dreams.

Society soon returned to its routine, leaving the event largely forgotten. Three months later, during her graduation trip to the United States, cheerful college student Saki Morimi encounters Akira Takizawa, who rescues her from a precarious situation. Takizawa appears eccentric; he is completely naked, suffers from amnesia, and believes he is a terrorist. Furthermore, he carries a peculiar cell phone containing 8.2 billion yen in digital currency. Although his behavior is highly suspicious, Saki forms a bond with the mysterious young man. Unaware of the truth, she is drawn into a thrilling death game centered on money, mobile devices, and the fate of the world. Higashi no Eden follows Saki as she attempts to decipher the secrets behind her rescuer, while Takizawa competes against other contenders equipped with similar phones, recovering memories that hint at his involvement in the earlier missile attacks.

Though he had long ago rejected the idea of the supernatural, being forced to join the club has introduced him to events that defy logical explanation. Having bonded through shared grief, the weary Nanachi accompanies Riko and Reg as they venture deeper into the Abyss. They face the Sea of Corpses, the fifth layer and the deepest point from which one can return without losing their humanity. Standing in their way is the masked sadist Bondrewd, whose gruesome laboratory acts as a final barrier for those seeking to go further. The sociopathic scientist intends to exact a heavy toll from Riko’s group. Haunted by Bondrewd’s past cruelty, Nanachi struggles with intense inner turmoil upon his reappearance. The group discovers that Bondrewd’s sole vulnerability is Prushka, an impulsive girl who claims to be his daughter. Riko, Reg, and Nanachi befriend Prushka and collaborate with her to thwart her father’s schemes and reach the sixth layer of the Abyss.

Long ago, after a brutal world war ended, humanity sought refuge in six city-states that appeared peaceful and ideal—at least outwardly. Shion, an elite inhabitant of No. 6, had his view of this world transformed by a chance meeting with a mysterious boy called Nezumi. Nezumi was one of many who dwelled in the desolate wasteland beyond the city's walls, far from the so-called utopia. Despite knowing that Nezumi was a fugitive, Shion decided to let him stay for the night and offered him protection, which brought about severe consequences: due to his actions, Shion and his mother lost their elite standing and were sent elsewhere, and the city's darker side began to reveal itself. Now, a long time after that life-changing first encounter, Shion and Nezumi are finally reunited. The former elite and the boy on the run are about to set out on an adventure that will, in due course, expose the devastating truths hidden within No. 6.

On a scorching August 14th, Shintarou Kisaragi is forced to leave his room for the first time in two years. After a quarrel with Ene, a digital girl living in his computer, he accidentally spills soda on his keyboard. Since most shops are closed for the Obon holiday, they have no choice but to visit a local department store. Going outdoors triggers intense anxiety, but being without his computer is unthinkable. Unfortunately, his first trip out coincides with a terrifying hostage situation. Luckily, a group of teens with mysterious eye powers called the Mekakushi Dan helps Shintarou resolve the incident. As a result, he and Ene become involved with their group. Their abilities seem to fit together like pieces of a puzzle, and as each member's background is unveiled, the hidden link connecting them all steadily emerges.

The Mizuhanome System is an extremely advanced technology that enables entry into one of the most fascinating realms in existence—the human psyche. By utilizing so-called "cognition particles" left behind at a crime scene by the offender, detectives from the specialized police unit Kura can manifest a criminal's subconscious mind as a surreal stream of thoughts within a virtual space. Their mission is to navigate this psychological realm, known as an "id well," in order to uncover the perpetrator's identity. Not everyone is capable of entering id wells; the requirement is that one must have committed murder themselves. This applies to former detective Akihito Narihisago, who goes by "Sakaido" while inside the id wells. Once a highly regarded member of the police force, a personal tragedy led him to become a criminal himself. Despite this, Narihisago continues to aid Kura while under confinement. Although his exceptional detective abilities remain valuable for solving cases, Narihisago begins to realize that things are not as straightforward as they appear, as behind the seemingly isolated series of murders hides a far darker truth.

In the near future, humanity has reached a point where complete body replacements from organic flesh to mechanical parts are possible. This advancement greatly enhances both physical and cybernetic abilities, blurring the line between the two realms. However, criminals also take full advantage of such technology, resulting in new and often highly dangerous forms of crime. To address these innovative threats, the Japanese government establishes Section 9, an independently operating police unit that handles such sensitive criminal cases. Led by Daisuke Aramaki and Motoko Kusanagi, Section 9 deals with these crimes across the entire social spectrum, usually achieving success.
