Synopsis
Five centuries have passed since Earth's environment collapsed and the planet was renamed Terra. In that time, humanity has built a purely logical society in space, governed by supercomputers. Children are grown in artificial wombs and randomly assigned to parents; at age fourteen, every child must pass an "Adulthood Exam." The greatest threat to this order is the Mu—humans who have awakened as espers. When Jomy Marquis Shin reaches his birthday and prepares to take the Adulthood Exam, he is horrified to discover that all his childhood memories will be wiped away. Just then, he hears the voice of Soldier Blue, the Mu leader, urging him to cling to his past. Jomy escapes aboard a Mu ship, only to learn that he himself is an esper and that the government has sentenced him to death. As Soldier Blue approaches the end of his life, he transfers his memories to Jomy and appoints him the new leader of the Mu. Now Jomy must decide whether to keep the Mu hidden or to wage war against humanity in order to fulfill their dream of returning to Terra.
