Synopsis

Youji Itami, an off-duty Japan Self-Defense Forces officer and avid otaku, is traveling to a doujin convention in Ginza, Tokyo, when a massive gate suddenly manifests. Through this portal, medieval warriors and supernatural beasts storm into the city, wreaking havoc and causing mass casualties. Youji acts quickly to rescue civilians while the JSDF mobilizes to repel the incursion. Three months later, Youji is assigned to lead a special reconnaissance unit within a JSDF task force. Their mission is to enter the "Special Region" beyond the gate to investigate the new world, establish diplomatic relations with the local inhabitants, and foster peace with the ruling empire. Failure to secure this alliance risks plunging both sides into a catastrophic war.
