Synopsis
Centuries after the 20th century, the environment and ecosystems have been ravaged by the use of nuclear and biological weapons. Much of the Earth is poisoned and crumbling into decay, with most plants and animals now extinct. The world approaches the "Big Six," the sixth mass extinction event. Humanity constructed floating cities in the sky, relocating endangered flora and fauna there. Over time, the animals evolved within these isolated cities. Through artificial genetic hybridization, they gained language, walked on two legs, and built a self-sufficient society. No one recalls the world below. One day, a single seed drifts into one of the sky cities, and the children Kui, Hiruma, and Root discover it. Drawn by curiosity about the outside world, they embark on an adventure to the lands below, unaware that once they set foot on the ground, they will never return.
