Synopsis
A distinct biographical portrait of the life of the celebrated modern Japanese poet Kenji Miyazawa, Spring and Chaos is a highly stylized and intense film that utilizes Miyazawa's own literary techniques to narrate his life story. Miyazawa commonly employed animals as protagonists in his stories and poems, and this method allows director Shoji Kawamori to reconstruct Miyazawa's fantastical world of Ihatov, which serves as the backdrop for his life. Beautiful and moving, Spring and Chaos is a fitting homage to one of Japan's most eminent writers.
