Synopsis
Ushio Aotsuki is a stubborn middle school student and the son of an eccentric temple priest. He goes through life without paying much attention to his father's stories about supernatural creatures called youkai. But while looking after the temple during his father's absence, his chores lead him to a startling find: in the basement, he discovers a terrifying youkai pinned down by the legendary Beast Spear. The imprisoned youkai is Tora, notorious for his immense destructive power, who tries to trick Ushio into freeing him from his five-hundred-year imprisonment. Ushio does not believe his words and refuses to let him go. However, when a sudden youkai attack endangers his friends and his home, he has no choice but to rely on Tora—with the ancient spear as his only guarantee if the beast steps out of line. The meeting between Ushio and Tora is just the start of an unlikely duo's journey into the depths of the spiritual world. With the fabled Beast Spear in hand, Ushio will discover just how real and dangerous the realm of the supernatural can be.
