Synopsis
Continues the story of Fate/Zero
The legendary Holy Grail, said to grant any desire, has already ignited three devastating conflicts. Unshaken by these catastrophes, the wealthy Einzbern family is confident the Fourth Holy Grail War will crown a victor, especially now that they possess a suitable vessel for the Grail. To ensure this outcome, they recruit the notorious "Magus Killer," Kiritsugu Emiya, sealing their arrangement through his marriage to their only daughter, Irisviel. Kiritsugu enters the deadly contest alongside seven other participants, each paired with an ancient Servant and driven by distinct goals. His most formidable opponent is Kirei Kotomine, a priest seeking redemption by eliminating Kiritsugu. Based on Gen Urobuchi's light novel, Fate/Zero chronicles the events of the Fourth Holy Grail War, set a decade before Fate/stay night. The story portrays a ruthless battle where survival is never guaranteed.
In this installment
In the ongoing Fourth Holy Grail War, with no clear victor in sight, the surviving Servants and Masters are called together by Church supervisor Risei Kotomine to forge a temporary alliance against an impending threat that could jeopardize the Holy Grail War and cause widespread destruction in Fuyuki City. However, this fragile truce soon disintegrates as the Masters prove willing to employ any ruthless methods necessary to secure victory. Strain intensifies between Kiritsugu Emiya and his Servant Saber due to their conflicting perspectives on heroism and ethics. Meanwhile, a dark bond forms between Kirei Kotomine, who is still seeking his purpose, and another Servant. As the war reaches its climax, the cost of winning begins to obscure the line between victory and defeat.
