Synopsis
Fireworks are believed to have the power to soothe the spirits of the dead. For Tomoya Sugisaki, Aoi Harukawa, and Ryou Kobayashi, fireworks became the means through which they encountered the Summer Ghost. This apparition, thought to be the spirit of a young woman who took her own life, appears only in a certain location and is visible solely to those who are on the verge of death. Tomoya is a creative individual overwhelmed by the pressure to secure admission to a prestigious university. Aoi is a timid girl suffering relentless bullying from her classmates. Ryou is a former basketball standout whose promising career ended abruptly after a grim medical diagnosis. The one thing they share is their ability to perceive the Summer Ghost. Legend says the ghost can answer any question about death—a topic the three teenagers are desperate to understand. Unsatisfied with their first encounter, Tomoya decides to seek out the Summer Ghost again. However, the more time he devotes to being with the ghost, the deeper the secrets surrounding her true nature begin to surface.
