Synopsis
After heading out for drinks late at night, Yan Yuechu and his coworker Hu Zhi take shelter from the rain in an unconventional spot: the building that houses Xu Aiyou's escape room, XY. Despite the game's notorious reputation and the mysterious nature of its owner, the two decide to try it out. Given one hour to solve puzzles and navigate a series of eerie rooms, Yan Yuechu and Hu Zhi manage to complete the game on time. But glimpses of what appears to be Xu Aiyou's troubled history, scattered throughout the experience, leave a strong mark on the pair—a mark so lasting that vivid scenes from new escape games invade their dreams. The next day, Yan Yuechu gets a letter warning him to steer clear of escape games. Though he fails to get clear answers from Xu Aiyou, he dreams again of having to solve a puzzle in order to escape his own bedroom. Yet was it truly just a dream? Unsure where reality ends and illusion begins, Yan Yuechu must uncover the truth behind XY if he wants to keep his sanity intact.
